We ainβt perfect. And we donβt want you to be either π
Here at Dom Productions, our motto is show up, show out.
β‘οΈ Show up: Establishing your presence online through content.
β‘οΈ Show out: Itβs more than just having a presence. Itβs about being consistent. Itβs about posting high quality work. Itβs about getting vulnerable and loud and connecting with your audience on a deeper level.
People buy from people, not brands. And they can tell when youβre being fake. Thatβs why itβs important to be real and relatable.
So sure, you can simply show your product or service to your audience, but unless itβs mind-blowingly innovative or curing diseases, you really have to get in the head of your target demographic in order for them to buy.
Thatβs where we come in π€
Our mission is to help you as a business owner or marketing manager to show up and show out through professional visuals that stay true to your brand - aka photos and videos!
So if youβre ready to upgrade your content marketing strategy, let us help you tell your brandβs story.
Iβm your brand storyteller, aka the Dom Daddy.
Hi, Iβm Monique (she/her), Founder and Lead Producer at Dom Productions.
In what started off as a fun, small side hustle to shoot music videos for friends, I officially launched my business, Dom Productions, in 2019. At that point, I had already been freelancing for three years as a photographer and videographer for other small businesses too.

As a child, I loved cameras. I would always steal my parents' camcorder and disposable cameras to create my own videos and fill my own scrapbooks. I also loved to write stories and would work with my school librarian to print and bind my own books.
I desired a career that combined my love for visuals and creative writing, So I decided to attend Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson University) to attain my Bachelor of Journalismβ¦ But omg I hated journalism π©
After graduating, I was hired as a content producer on a corporate marketing team. During my years in this position, I used professional photography equipment, worked on my video editing skills, and published blog posts on a national forum - telling stories through words and visuals. Sounds great, right? But I also faced countless micro-aggressions and experienced what I considered to be toxic workplace culture. No consideration for mental health, parental needs, or the POC experience.
So in 2019, I finally decided to leave and start my own business - one where I could give other women-of-colour the chance to upgrade their skills in the media production field, have a say in forming workplace culture, and influence business marketing strategies.
... and that's how Dom Productions was born! β€οΈβπ₯
Like many people, I live with anxiety disorder, and I think therapy helped me view entrepreneurship and marketing from a different lens. Unlike other freelancers or agencies, I like to have in-depth conversations with my clients prior to working together to get a better understanding of their brand, the backstory, their customer avatar, value proposition, etc.
I also struggle with handing my baby (my business) to other vendors, so I absolutely LOVE connecting with my clients, listening to their needs and letting them know they can trust me with their content.
Through this, Iβm able to create on-brand content that truly speaks to your audience.
And I just love what I do. This business is truly one of the best things to ever happen to me π
Your go-to show rn? Gossip Girl (the 2007 version obviously), Jersey Shore or Hannah Montana.
Your sign? Pisces Sun, Virgo Moon, Scorpio Rising
Your fave Jonas brother? Nick. Itβs the curly hair and whiny voice for me.
Your love language? Acts of service
Your favourite temperature? 30 degrees with no air conditioning. Give me a fan and Iβm good.
Something that makes no sense to you? Money. How come I canβt just print more at home?
Mission
Externally, we are committed to saving small businesses time by producing high quality content for marketing purposes in a way that aligns with your business goals. Internally, we want to give other women and women-of-colour the opportunity to upgrade their skills in the media production field and have a say in forming corporate culture and inclusive content marketing strategies.
Core Values
INCLUSIVITY β‘οΈ
We empower other women and BIPOC. Our team comes in all different shapes, ethnicities, sizes, colours, abilities and experiences.
AUTHENTICITY β‘οΈ
Weβre not afraid to talk about the stupid little things that make life real. Strict professional talk is boring.
COMMITMENT β‘οΈ
Weβre going to do what we say weβre going to do. And if we canβt, weβre okay with telling people in a timely fashion.
QUALITY β‘οΈ
We donβt just put out anything. A great amount of time and care goes into everything we do.
